Like a poison, I drank your bereaved elegies,
Your fragrant weeping, wild lilies, tiger lilies!
Dedicate your blushing smile to the morning’s fire,
Japanese lilies, blooming in the land of porphyre.
Shadows, shed your slumber imbued with opiums,
Your sepulchral sleep upon chaste arums.
J’ai bu, tel un poison, vos souffles éplorés,
Vos sanglots de parfums, lys fauves, lys tigrés !
Dédiez au matin votre rose sourire,
Lys du Japon, éclos aux pays de porphyre.
Ténèbres, répandez vos torpeurs d’opiums,
Vos sommeils de tombeaux sur les chastes arums.
